Detailed Information

David was born as Patrick David Lashmar in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on May 22, 1970. While attending Sherwood Secondary High School, David was a music teacher at The College of Contemporary Music. He also played in several local bar bands. By the mid 80’s, David (already an accomplished composer and keyboardist) taught himself to sing and play guitar. He formed the successful pop-goth band, Vampire Sex Chain in the late 80’s. In the 90’s David would form the alternative-rock band Syringe, as well as produce recordings for his personal side-project, Choke On Candy. In early 2000, David produced several albums with hip-hop artists, Nikki T, Devious01, Strike, Styles, FoulMouth, and Clevah. The mid 2000’s saw David win several awards for his glamour photography. By 2010 David had mostly retired from photography and music to focus on his career as the Vice President of a publishing corporation. Although retired from music, David, from time-to-time, releases new music under the name “Zeptae”.

Notable Points
  • David’s first appearance in the media occurred on the day he was born. He was featured in the Hamilton Spectator newspaper along with his mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother as five generations being alive at the same time was a rare occurrence in the 1970’s.

  • David is cousin to Sean Anderson and Scott Anderson of the rock group Finger Eleven (F11).

  • David started the campy, halloween-like holiday, “Evil Thursday” which is the Thursday before Good Friday.

  • David's band, Vampire Sex Chain, recorded but never released a version of the Joy Division song, "Transmission" in 1990.

  • David had a well-publicized fight with deviantART in 2008 over the banning of one of his images, despite being named one of the top ten deviantART artists of the previous year.

  • David’s band, Syringe, recorded the song “Whole Lotta Love To Give” for the Daniel Lanois tribute album at Grant Avenue Studios. Syringe also recorded three covers songs for The Forgotten Rebels tribute album: “Surfin’ On Heroin”, “Fuck Me Dead”, and “Elvis Is Dead”.

  • Many years before there were PodCasts, David had his own online radio show where he was known as “DJ Zeptae”.

  • David suffered a life-long battle with obesity and finally got his weight under control in 2010 with the help of bariatric gastric bypass surgery.

  • David used to be an avid rare record collector and managed the rare and collectable record store, Zapp Records in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada during his late teens and early twenties.
